In middle school, a new girl moved to town from Pennsylvania and I made endless fun of her accent. My favorite words to hear her say were “pink” as “pank” and “water” as “wooder.” Even today, years later, I sometimes use her pronunciations for those words because they are more fun than my flat, Washington-state accent. Blazer, Express (thrifted). Tee, Everlane. Jeans, London Jean (thrifted). Boots, Lauren Ralph Lauren. Earrings, Francesca’s Boutique. Belt, thrifted.
