One of the reasons Sam and I love taking road trips is the opportunity to pull over and find something breathtaking. California is incredible in it's diversity of climates, landscapes, and environments. The desert gives way to the redwoods and at some point you realize you are somewhere totally new. In half a day you can find yourself going from the warm coastal climate of Los Angeles to a snowy mountain peak in Mammoth or the chilly overcast streets of San Francisco.
