Outfit: Prep School Drop Out
Whenever I dress overtly preppy I always feel like a caricature. I never feel like myself in pearls and collared shirts, but they're fun when you go for a theme. Today I wanted to look like one of the teenagers Nina Leen photographed in the late 1940s through the 1970s. I resisted their ubiquitous saddle shoes for a slightly modern take on the look, but I do find a lot of inspiration in those vintage photographs--minus the pearls I do like the classic look of a sweater and tweedy or plaid skirt. I love how basic this skirt is; the thicker material makes it perfect for fall and winter outfits and the color will go with nearly any cozy sweater in my closet....
