irregular patterns
When I'm browsing the racks at the thrift store, I try to keep my eyes peeled for stripes, dots, and other classic prints. At first glance I thought this was a basic polka-dotted print but upon closer inspection I realized that the spots are totally irregular and random. Despite this observation, my brain continues to search for a regular, repeatable pattern in the print, even as I'm typing up this post. I find the tireless efforts of the mind to make sense of the nonsensical amusing and curious; even when we've accepted that some things aren't the way we expected them to be, our brain keeps working to make them fit our preconceived ideas of how they should be.
