It's mid-August in Edmonton, and therefore it's my favourite time of year - the Edmonton International Fringe Theatre festival is here! For ten whole days the city is abuzz with over a hundred theatre and comedy acts from around the globe. Next to Edinburgh, the Edmonton Fringe is the second biggest independent theatre festival in the world! Most people are surprised by the fact that Edmonton has the largest theatre scene in the country outside of Toronto, especially given its size of one million people. The drama department at the U of A is one of the country's most progressive and avant garde, and many actors just never leave Edmonton because people here always go out...
