I know that one of the most common mixed pattern combinations is florals and stripes, but the reason that they're so popular is because they're just so pretty together - especially for the summer! The way I "match" them is to ensure one pattern has at least one, if not two, of the colours in the other pattern; so here, blue also features in the floral pattern, and white is sort of in the floral as well.
