Art Noveau Joan of Arc
Here’s my outfit for this week’s SIA, inspired by Alphonse Mucha’s poster of Maud Adams as Joan of Arc. This is one of the rare cases when I wished it had been warmer when we did this, because I have a spring dress that works great with the colors of the painting, but it’s too cold now to wear it. So I had to make do with my William Morris waistcoat and added my light green blazer as a nod to the lighter colors in the painting. The cutouts on my shirt mimic the blossoms in the foreground, and my brooch is both a nod to the Art Nouveau style and the lilies around the border of the painting (irises are close enough to lilies, right?)...
