Sunday Afternoon
Here’s my outfit for this week’s SIA, inspired by Georges Seurat’s A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte . I had no idea what to wear for this at first – something with dots would be the most obvious choice, but none of my polka-dot items really fit the painting, and there are so many colors in the painting that I didn’t know what to go for either. Then, by a stroke of luck, I found this top. The embroideries on the front sort of remind me of pointillism, and the purple/burgundy color is similar to what several women in the painting are wearing too.
