Palate Cleanser
I finished Tom Lake earlier this week - having read rave reviews and not read an Ann Patchett before I had great expectations. The opening was intriguing and of the dual timeline narrative, I much preferred then to now (which was during the Covid lockdown but only lightly referred to so not triggering!) Overall it was a nice story but it crept along and at times felt a little (whisper it quietly) boring. Still, every now and then a gentle read is just what you need as a palate cleanser and the cover artwork is beautiful.
