The Story | Part III
September 2022. It was the start of twelfth grade, and I wanted to be going anywhere but back to high school. The idea of returning to the same brick building, to the same classes and hallways, filled me with a kind of dread I couldn’t verbalise – and likely wouldn’t have dared to even if I could have, out of fear and shame. I was miserable. The story of seventeen-year-old me is a sad one. A little of my misery was probably rooted in the fact that I was a teenager who wanted to be a grown up already.
