Girl With A Pearl Brooch
My outfit for this week’s SIA, inspired by Vermeer’s “Girl with a Pearl Earring”, took some thinking. Not because I don’t have any piece in my closet that fits the painting, but rather because I have too many – blue and black are the two colors I have the most, and yellow is one of my regular accent colors. In the end, I went with this gold taffeta blazer because the color and the shine of the fabric look like the robe of the girl in the painting, and I paired it simply with black jeans, a white sweater, and a blue silk scarf. For the “pearl” part of the paining, this Art Nouveau-esque brooch is the perfect finishing...
