Chanel: In Memory of Karl
If you happen to not know a lot about Haute Couture, let me give you a quick debrief. Haute Couture is different than ready to wear and it has very specific rules for qualification. The literal translation for couture is dressmaking and haute means high, it's basically the highest form of sewing a garment. Each garment is created and sewn by hand by the atelier houses of Chanel in Paris and some pieces can take up to 1500 hours to make. Every time I see these garments up close, I literally become speechless at their details. The sequins, beading, buttons and pleats of each garment is beyond beautiful and a reminder that these are pieces of art.
