Last week I returned to one of my favourite places on earth... Whitby. Sometimes I feel so lucky to have roots in this gorgeous and character-filled town, although I don't know if it's my nostalgia that lends it so much importance, or its real glory that makes me nostalgic. What I do know, is that every time I come to the top of a certain hill on the road across the North Yorkshire moors, and see, past fields of brown or black or purple heather, a slice of blue sea and the ruined shell of a church, I'm completely overcome with joy.
