CARRIE MOYER at the WHITNEY BIENNIAL
The Whitney Biennial opened last week to great fanfare. A biannual survey of art in America, it is seen as an opportunity to take the pulse of what is occupying artists in this country today. Since the exhibition opened, there hasn't been a day that passes without a new article (or dozens) discussing the perceived wins, losses, and controversies related to the show. Aside from the multitude of challenging, mystifying, and even stupefying work, I was pleased to see a good number of paintings on view, from artists who are delving into new territories through their canvases.
