The weather has been glorious these last few days and my children and I have dined al-fresco. We eat together every day, but our little bistro table gives rise to an increased physical closeness and the holiday mood has given them a relaxed openness and we sat and chatted for far longer than we do usually after eating. I always say that little things make a big difference. The break from the routine by eating outside, walking barefoot on the grass, relinquishing the layers as well as the winter duvet, feel liberating and my bones and my heart feel all the warmer for it.
