Lone Moments
As the clock struck 5pm every evening in Florence, I would open my window at the Hotel Santa Maria Novella to the beautiful tunes being carried across the piazza. It was my favorite part of the day. The group would split up from our daytime activities to get ready for another memorable night in Italy. It was one of the only moments I was alone during the trip and surprisingly, thankfully and I never quite felt alone or homesick. Instead, I would listen to the same guitar player sing romantic covers and Italian ballads which left me feeling an overwhelming sense of happiness.
