Direct Sunlight One of the first things you learn when you're into photography is that it's best not to photograph anything in direct light. The bright light will wash anything out like bleach in a color cycle, and the shadows it casts often overwhelm everything. However, sometimes it's fun to break the rules and do what you're not supposed to, so that's what I did for these photos. Thank goodness my new camera has a higher max shutter speed, because that allows me to avoid overexposure while keeping a nice shallow depth of field. I actually really like the drama of the shadows in these shots, which reminds me that it's always ok to break the photography rules now and again. ...
