Matanuska Glacier
Last week I spent some time visiting my dad in Alaska, northeast of Anchorage. We did all kinds of sightseeing, from the view looking out his living room window of snow capped mountain ranges, to driving up to Whitter and seeing glaciers from afar and avalanche sights up close. We went to a restaurant at the top of a snowy mountain only accessible by lift, and drove through an area that looked like an extreme version of the Columbia River Gorge. The most special experience was the Matanuska Glacier, which you can actually hike on and explore. It's completely unreal walking on a vast landscape of ice and snow, the blues and whites reflect light like nothing...
