Birch wood is heavy! We're trying to get a start on our wood for next year, when you burn wood you have to give it about a year to dry out and "season" so that it will burn properly. Wet wood burns poorly, gives off little heat and releases a lot of particulates into the air that can be harmful so it's really important to get a start on that.
