The secret to a messy bun is...

Has anyone ever purposely made a messy bun? Every time I try to make a messy bun, it's either too polished or too messy (like in my pictures today, it's a little too polished--in my opinion at least). And what's even more annoying? I always end up with the perfect messy bun when I'm not even trying. Like seriously, at night when I'm washing my face and I throw up my hair in five seconds just to merely get it...
