Inspired by the navy trench-like coat from the Escada collection over at Nordstrom, I reached for this similar piece from my closet. I paired it with two of my closest staples, black opaque tights and black suede pumps. I remember being about 13 years old or so, and thinking that pairing black and navy was a big fat no no.
