Wardrobe Wednesday - Slimming with Belts
There are very few universal rules in fashion - but one that works for me is that belting my waist to create an hourglass shape. I think even for apples or larger ladies it really is just about learning how to create an optical illusion. I love the look of an emphasised waist partially hidden behind a cardigan, vest or jacket - here's today's warm layered look inspired by the lovely NZ designer, Robyn Mathieson . I love how the tonal flow (black top and black skirt) lead the eye to see the body as a long column whilst the shape of the cardigan and the belting give the illusion of a great hourglass shape.
