Kodomo no hi Dress - Courtesy of Bernie Dexter get it here ! In May, Kodomo no hi (Children's Day) in Japan celebrates the happiness of children and gives thanks to mothers. During the holiday coloured carp shaped koinobori flags are hung to represent families and their children, the colour and size of the carps are symbolic for the children and parents. When I first put on the dress I was mesmerized by the illustration but had no idea of the cultural significance of the dress.
