Ile Saint-Louis
I've always been enchanted by Ile Saint-Louis; there's something very romantic about an island right in the middle of the city, at once at the centre of everything and isolated from it. The views of Paris from the little residential island are spectacular - it's connected to Ile de la Cite by a small footbridge, and from the Ile Saint-Louis side, you can take in the beauty of Notre-Dame Cathedral without having to elbow your way through throngs of tourists. Just around the corner, you can take a seat on one of the green-lacqured benches an admire the Hotel-de-Ville from afar. Whenever I visit, I stop first at the famous ice cream shop Berthillon ...
