a no-buy halloween: paul bunyan & babe
i love folklore; i actually teach a unit about it to my third graders and we always talk about paul bunyan. they're always so surprised by babe, and get a good laugh out of paul's appearance. when thinking about halloween costumes that we could easily recreate from what we already had in our closets, i immediately thought of this duo. i bought this ridiculous blue velvet dress from a playhouse that was having a costume sale. the original plan was to chop a good 2 feet off of the bottom but i hadn't gotten the time to pull out the sewing machine. i sponged on some blue eyeshadow (i knew there was a reason for keeping that around!)
