Booker Prize
Quite unintentionally I’ve read two Booker Prize winning novels so far this year; Orbital (2024) and Shuggie Bain (2020). Orbital only took a few hours for me to complete, it coincided with Joe being in the US just after New Year for the first of many work trips this year no doubt! I spotted it in the library and was drawn to the solar system cover. The descriptions of looking back at Earth from space were lovely and had me googling various places, mountain ranges and so forth that I’d not heard of. After finishing Shuggie yesterday lunchtime I moved on to Good Material by Dolly Alderton. It’s a quick read, am over halfway through but I’m not loving it so...
