SIA Inspiration: Andrew Clemens Welcome to the first SIA challenge of 2025! I wanted something unique to start the year with, so here’s my pick:
These sand bottles are the work of Iowan artist Andrew Clemens (1857 – 1894). He layered sands of different natural colors to create amazingly intricate patterns, pictures, names, and dates, in pharmaceutical bottles, without glue or any kind of binding material at all. They would sell for around $5 to $7 in his lifetime, but recently, a bottle was sold for nearly $1 million(!!!)
