Another year, another birthday has rolled around. I understand the emotion that this generates for some, but really, getting older has never bothered me much. True I've had a few rough years, but as time passes and the hard times get further behind me, I once again see birthdays as a chance to celebrate rather than mourn. Recently I was chatting with someone whose 40th is approaching and she said that although she knew that many women found turning 40 to be rather depressing, she chose to view it in the light of the fact that many people never reach their 40th and each year is a gift.
