Turtle Rescue and Conservation in Cape Verde
Two years ago we were visiting Sal (Cape Verde), and on the first night of our holiday, discovered the local turtle hatchery and conservation centre on the beach. On our return to Sal this week, we were delighted to see Project Biodiversity is going strong… and has actually grown in size!
Every evening at 5pm from September to December, the team give a presentation about the turtle hatchery and what we can do to help the conservation effort. This evening’s presentation was particularly special because, as the volunteer was speaking, suddenly a little volcano of newly hatched baby tutors erupted up through the sand! Right in front of us!
