White Dress in the Mud
The mud after a thunderstorm and a white dress, what could go wrong? Well, nothing. Especially if you consider the stains on a dress a sign of a pond enjoyed, a laugh had, and a hug earned.
We are all too precious with our items. The couch not jumped on, the book uncracked, and the dress unworn. We work to acquire items that are never used but instead displayed like trophies of our hunt through capitalism. Sure, art should be displayed, as it’s use is to be seen. But why else do we work so hard just to buy and place things we never use? And why is a well used item seen as somehow diminished? Is it not instead a sign of how useful and desired it was?...
