Over the Christmas period I went to a party, and after several drinks (mostly for me) the conversation lead to us discussing Thai nicknames. In Thailand, everyone has their ‘full’ name, which is normally always super long, and as a foreigner, had to pronounce, let alone remember. Luckily for us, people generally go by their nicknames. It’s not your regular nickname though – like mine, for instance, ‘Jo’, short for ‘Johanna’, which in my opinion makes complete sense.
