Humidity sweeps across the cotton fields with the South Texas wind blasting in strong currents causing your bloodshot eyes to burn. There is a constant murmur of tractors in the distance that are running 24/7 to get the crop harvested as quickly as possible before any rain or storm takes it down. Gnats buzz through the air and if you aren’t careful, they’ll land right on your tongue when you open your mouth to speak. The sharp branches of the cotton plant cut at your legs as you walk near and the itch from the thousands of particles being kicked up into the air from the tractors melts into your skin, burning to be scratched.
