Desperately Seeking Cindy
There's a fantastic Cindy Sherman retrospective currently at the MOMA and I am super excited to see it. I took a handful of Art History courses in college and in one class we spent a few days on Cindy Sherman. Since the 1970s, Sherman has created her art by using clothing, wigs, prosthetics and makeup to transform herself into various fictional characters and historical figures, then taking a self portrait. Each photo is of a different 'person' and is wholly conceived and executed by her.
