Traditional Welsh Costume On the 1st of March each year, Wales celebrates its patron saint, Saint David. Traditionally, the celebrations are focused in Eisteddfodds in schools (mini festivals of music, performance and literature). We might eat a traditional Welsh dish, such as laverbread, Welsh cakes, Bara Brith, or a nice bit of lamb. Some of us wear a daffodil or leek brooch pinned to our coats, and children are sent off to school in traditional Welsh costume. Boys get to wear flat-caps and pretend to be miners, and girls wear rather witchy black hats. But why should the children have all the fun?
