"A pretty sight, a lady with a book." - Shirley Jackson My summer reading list continues to dwindle as I whizzed through yet another book, namely We Have Always Lived In The Castle by Shirley Jackson. This gothic suspense novel tells the "deliciously unsettling story of a perverse, isolated, and possibly murderous family." This was my first introduction into the genius/madness that is Shirley Jackson and I can't think of a better way to have greeted her. I don't usually gravitate towards this genre of literature for the simple fact that I'm a big scaredy cat, but while the fear factory is definitely evident in this story its on a more psychological level.
