Napa Valley When in San Francisco we always take a day trip to Napa Valley. We set off very early, get takeaway coffee and muffins, then head out over the Golden Gate Bridge and drive up the Silverado Trail (the Napa road less travelled) for lunch in Calistoga, stopping off at a couple of wineries on the way.
This time we tried Clos Pegase which is famous for the owner’s art collection as well as its Cabernet Sauvignon.
Drinking wine at 10am feels more socially acceptable if you do it while admiring a Henry Moore!
After a lunch of oysters, fried calamari and fabulous gnocchi at Brannan’s Grill in Calistoga we head back on the scenic (and super busy) Route 29,...
