Pattern Mixing 101: Dots and Plaid Hey, folks! Surprise...I'm back with another pattern mixing outfit! The way this outfit was born was simple: I wore the sweater with the pants, and I usually wear my blanket scarf wrapped around my shoulders when I'm in my (very cold) apartment. I had to go outside to do something, so I grabbed the scarf around my shoulders, shifted it to wear it as a usual scarf, and voila! An outfit was born. I think the reason the plaid works with the polka dot pants is because they're not right next to each other. I think it would look a little funky if the plaid scarf was worn over, say, a dress or shirt in that pattern. But since there's a sweater in between them, it serves...
