Did any of you happen to tune into the Miss Universe Pageant yesterday, dear readers?? When we were growing up, my sister and I always loved watching pageants like Miss Canada and Miss USA with my Mom - and even, occasionally, my Dad! - but the Miss Universe competition was probably our favourite...mostly because of the spectacular costumes the girls always wear to open the show!! In recent years, pageants have come under a lot of scrutiny for various behind-the-scenes scandals made public...and the debate over whether these kinds of "beauty contests" even have a place in our modern world.
