I do not work in marketing and have no idea how they come up with ideas to differentiate products/services. Take one of my favorite store, Loft who is owned by Ann, Inc also owns Ann Taylor. I get that two brand distinction with Ann Taylor geared more towards the older gals (like me) and Loft for younger generation. The two brands may have different target markets but I find that a lot of times, the clothes are still very similar. They introduced Lou & Grey a few years at the Loft store that is easygoing, textured rich styles for every according to their website. When I see the line in store, it is more laid back vibe and muted colors with minimal print. ...
