From blog FATED TO BE HATED
WESTERN WONDER I used to hate the desert. I thought the arid plain was ugly and unromantic. The east coast "spoke to me" because it was intellectual and industrial and tragic in all its metal and concrete. Brick warehouses, dive bars, barren lofts, I wanted all of it. The West seemed stupid. Spirituality seemed stupid. Nature repulsed me. I don't know when or why I changed, but I definitely did. Kind of. I still think cities like Brooklyn are beautiful (my myspace location in 2008 was "wait for me Williamsburg because I hate Las Vegas, Nevada") and I might even move there if presented the opportunity. But I sense that as much as I'm enamored with tall buildings, I actually belong in...
