It's been nearly nine months now, and I'm only just coming to terms with the loss of my mom. The depression and sheer overwhelming sadness didn't hit me until now. She left a big hole in my life. She drove me nuts. She wasn't a perfect mother, but she was mine. She was my friend. She lived with the same mental illnesses that I'm struggling with, but her experience, advice, and support has kept me from the dark places she went. My mom would probably have fussed at me posting her selfie online, but I think it's beautiful. She wore make up sometimes, but I always thought she was most beautiful without it. She fussed about her crows feet, but then much younger guys...
