Mz Washington Today, I’m posed in front of the Campy Washington mural in Camp Washington. It depicts George Washington in a dress. Apparently, many find it disrespectful. Dress, To the Max. Scarf, thrifted. Shoes, Lela Rose for Payless. Hat and bag, Charming Charlie. Bracelets, Claire’s, Mixit, and Fort. I’ve always thought of it as “whimsical,” but, judging from the backlash, serious historical figures should never be treated with whimsy. Last night, I saw a preview for “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.” Is that treatment of a president less disrespectful than putting one in a dress?
