Weekly Capsule 19.4: The Theory Of Meh
So I finally watched The Theory of Everything the other day, and I have to admit, I am deeply unimpressed. It feels very standard “tortured genius biopic”, and the “tortured” part wasn’t even that touching or uplifting, while the “genius” part was largely glossed over. It’s like they just pulled out a chart and ticked all the boxes. Aimless years at the university? Check. A sudden, groundbreaking idea that forms his career? Check. Terrible, insurmountable illness?
